Dear Haiden,
Four years ago you were sick all the time. Four years ago you had rashes all over your body. Four years ago you couldn't communicate your wants and needs. Four years ago you couldn't transition from one activity to another without a meltdown. Four years ago you didn't want to play with other children. Four years ago you didn't know how to play with toys. Four years ago you wouldn't touch certain things because you couldn't stand how they felt. Four years ago your little world was a very scary place. Four years ago they said you had autism. Four years ago we said you were awesome and deserved a better life. So four years ago we started our biomedical journey.
Today you are healthy. Today you don't have rashes all over your body. Today you talk to us all the time about your wants, needs, likes, dislikes, thoughts, and dreams. Today you go place to place with ease and enjoy going to parks, school, the store, grandparents, and friends houses. Today you have a lot of friends that you love to play with. Today you love music, sports, trains, running, pretending, and playing. Today you will get messy and care less about it. Today you are a very happy little boy. Today we were told that you would be in the general education classroom for 1st grade. Today we still think you are awesome. And today I can say, "You have recovered from autism!"
Mommy and Daddy love you so much! We are so proud of how hard you have fought through all of this. You have no idea how many lives you changed.
Love Always,
Mommy and Daddy
